Blog Forum #5

There are many things that I learned in this class that I will use in my ongoing education and teaching. All the awesome websites that were researched will be beneficial to helping to create a teaching environment. I really enjoyed putting together the power point slide show game. I think students will enjoy fun ways to learn. I know I enjoyed creating the game. It is hard to narrow the down a few things that I will use. Honestly I really cannot think of anything that we did this semester that I will not use in my classroom. This class was a tremendous help in getting jump started to a great career in teaching and in organization.

Blog Forum #3 - Altec

With the growing technology Altec would make it easy to introduce the new ways in the classroom. Quizstar looks like it would highly benefit my classroom. It would help me manage my classes and quizzes. The program has a neat feature, where it allows you to make quizzes in multiple languages. Casa Notes helps teachers customize notes to send to students and parents. It contains informative notes, permission slips, awards and etc. This site would benefit K-12 teachers. The templates are quick and easy. Rubistar is an excellent weblearning site. It is very user friendly. Unfortunately, I did not find material I could use in my classroom.

The Apple Learning Interchange will be a great way to find material for my classroom. It has excellent media segments that I will be able to use in the classroom. The Interchange has good ideas for learning subjects & contents. I particularly liked the one on learning math with music. It introduces possibilities to teaching and ways to learn that you do not think about. Ideas that could really help in the teaching process. The Apple Learning Interchange also makes it possible for teachers to communicate with other teachers. It gives teachers an opportunity to pool their ideas and share their teaching strategies or tips with each other.

Article 1 - When I clicked on the link it stated "The requested document was not found."

Article 2 - I do agree that schools are behind on the technology we provide for our students. We need to push for more. I am sure it is tough for the administration to divide the budget every year to see that each department is supplied with the materials and supplies that are needed. With more support coming from teachers and students, in regards to technology, the better chance we have to change the outline of the schools outlook on the advancements and importance of technology.

Article 3 - I believe the ISTE NETS Project is a great way to reach out to all parties involved. This is a great way for the importance of technology and education to be heard. This article talks about providing standards and curriculum for students and teachers. The point we have to get across to students, parents, teachers and the administration is that technology plays a very important part in today's fast pace world.

Article 4 - I have to say this was an interesting article. I was one that liked the things the way they were. You could say I was change-challenged. I graduated from FHSU in 2001 with a business degree and up until November 2006 I worked full-time. I worked in Insurance and in that industry; programs, companies, underwriting procedures, computer software & etc are always changing. I learned it was pretty easy to adapt with the changes and appreciate the new ways and new technology.

Article 5 - The virtual classroom makes earning your degree a reality for individuals who may not be able to do so otherwise. I was able to take 9 hours this semester through virtual classes. It would have been otherwise impossible since I live an hour and 15 minutes away from Hays and I was expecting a baby in March. Virtual courses tend to be very flexible which is extremely helpful especially when you have a 3 year-old and a newborn.
